Dear Holy Spirit, Guide all and reveal the Master… In Jesus name Amen
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage – Joshua 1:5-6
PREPARING THE MAN OF GOD –
God raised up a leader Joshua after Moses and God spoke to him and encouraged him saying Do not fear, for I will not leave nor forsake you. Joshua knew what it meant to be a leader as he watched Moses a man of God fight God’s battles. He knew he had to trust God and believe in him and be holy as God commanded.
Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.- Josh 1:7.
The purpose of raising a man of God over His people is for them to oversee God’s people, protect them and deliver them from the hand of the enemy. God raised Joshua to bless Israel, to Glorify the name of the Lord among all nations. God raised Joshua because God could trust Joshua but he didn’t know that he was able to do anything mighty as he saw his former leader Moses do.
God knows our heart better than we ourselves, when God spoke to Joshua – He knew that fear tormented him for that time. Have you met people whom you have shared your problem with and they say yeah.. I understand.. When they don’t. God isn’t like that! He does know our frame.. And our weakness and that’s why though you may or may not confess …He speaks to comfort you.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:8-9
There are specific instruction to Joshua –
God speaks into our heart to receive His Word
- Be strong and of good courage
- To do all my commandments spoken through Moses
- Do not turn from the Law to the left or to the right
- The book of Law shall not depart from your mouth
- Meditate on the Law day and night
- Do not be afraid
- Nor be dismayed
GOD’S PROMISE –
- No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life
- As I was with Moses, so I am with you
- I will not leave and forsake you.
- Follow the Law and you will prosper where ever you go.
- Good success
- I will go with you wherever you go.
MAN OF WAR – As young and still inexperienced, Joshua’s heart must have swelled up at the thought of being divinely instructed by the LORD and comforted. For the LORD knew the battles cannot be won by flesh and blood, because God fights for His purpose against the forces of satan through His children to overthrow the kingdom of satan.
Captain of Hosts !
The LORD is a man of war; The LORD is His name – Exodus 15:3. This is the comfort we have, that the LORD will go forth before us and overthrow every obstacles, hindrances and hurdles facing His children. All God wants is for us to trust Him and be obedient to Him.
Do not be self-righteous and exalt yourself for the battles the LORD wins against the forces of satan through you. It’s not because of your righteousness but because of their wickedness that the LORD overthrows.
Do not think in your heart, after the LORD your God has cast them out before you, saying, ‘Because of my righteousness the LORD has brought me in to possess this land’; but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is driving them out from before you. 5 It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you go in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD your God drives them out from before you, and that He may fulfill the word which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 6 Therefore understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people. – Deut 9:4-6
GOD NEVER LEAVES NOR FORSAKES..
Every small and big battles that God fights for us is to deliver and give us His inheritance. For the Word of God says the Meek inherit the earth… when we are lowly in heart and humble ourselves before God, He will exalt us. When you have a giant to fight with, you don’t have to worry He’s already there to overthrow it, Trust Him with everyday issues and deeper issues that is bothering you.
Jesus is same yesterday, today and forever – He is still the same who was with Joshua and is with you too!
